Animals and Aloe

The complementary medicinal properties of Aloe Vera have been known for some 4,000 years with one of the first references being on an Egyptian temple carving from around 2000 BC. The first mention of Aloe Vera's pharmaceutical properties were recorded on Sumerian clay tablets in 1750 BC. It was around this time in 2100 BC that the art of veterinary science was first mentioned in the laws of Hammurabi.
However, it was not until the 1800s that Aloe Vera first started to be used commonly in the UK for treating the diseases of animals.
David Urch has been a vet for over 30 years, dedicating most of that time researching complementary veterinary medicine and the holistic approach. He started using Aloe Vera on his patients in 1996 and wrote a book on his findings in 1999. He currently spends much of his time lecturing throughout the world to both the general public and veterinary professional on the benefits of Aloe Vera to animals.
So far over 75 different nutrients have been identified within the inner leaf gel of the Aloe Vera plant. A number of researchers have concluded that Aloe Vera works on the epithelial tissues and the immune system to produce its beneficial effects. This is why it appears to help with conditions affecting a number of apparently unrelated bodily systems such as the Skin; the Digestive System and the Respiratory System.

'Spud' the Hedgehog and Aloe Vera Gelly August 2009
A bald hedgehog affectionately named ‘Spud’ has been gaining much media and public attention recently. Spud was found wandering in a garden and was taken to Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in Aylesbury, Bucks, last August. Experts were baffled by his condition, which has caused his skin to dry and his spines to fall out. This led to the hospital asking practitioners for alternative medicines to use as possible remedies. Click here for Telegraph article.
Spud’s story has been covered by the One Show, CCBC Newsround, the Daily Mail, the Sun and the Independent to name but a few. On the 04 August, channel 5’s ‘Michaela's Animal Road Trip’ ran a feature on Spud revealing that his spikes had began to grow back. The homeopathic treatment used and demonstrated on the show was Forever’s Aloe Vera Gelly.

We have given our much loved border collie Holly, the Forever Freedom drink as she has severe hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. The glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM ingredients in the drink are absorbed more efficiently by the body due to the natural base of the aloe vera gel. We are seeing an increase in her energy levels and mobility daily! - We were told we should persevere with the product as results may take up to 3 months - but dogs don't lie! Holly's condition is quite severe and nothing will cure her but as long as her body can produce enough lubricants and tissues to keep her hip joints cushioned, and alongside a regulated exercise and Hydrotherapy routine, she can continue a happy and reasonably pain free life. Keep up to date with Holly's progress (and other clinical studies) on our Facebook page. Please hit the 'like' button and become a fan to ensure you are notified of future updates.
